Question of the Month: Feb 2018 Edition

Hey internet!

Guess I’ll jump back into the Later Levels question of the month game! To be honest, I’ve been pretty meh about the whole writing/blogging thing lately (again… same old story). BUT community events like this always inspire me to put words together. Here’s my answer to this month’s question asked by Kevin over atΒ The Mental Attic.

You ate everything during Christmas so now have to diet and work it all off; which video game character do you recruit as your personal trainer to get you back into shape?

I’m going to think way outside the box here and go with a completely unpredictable answer…

Nah, I’m going to be shockingly obvious and say Lightning Farron from the Final Fantasy XIII trilogy! Surprised? Didn’t think so.

She’s a pretty good motivational speaker too. Well, when she doesn’t accidentally inspire vengeance… oops!

Let’s see. Lightning is a former Guardian Corps Sgt so she would definitely have experience with training people. Despite her tough appearance, she does actually care about the people in her life and wants them to be better. However, the biggest reason why I’m choosing Lightning is because she already IS my personal trainer.

I don’t like crowded gyms so I have workout stuff in my apartment. See the big picture on the wall, there?

No joke. When I first played FFXIII I was really really miserable, suffering from panic attacks, overeating a lot, and completely out of shape. While playing the FFXIII games, I wanted to become strong like Lightning so I started working out again and eating healthy. As a result of Lightning’s inspiration, I lost 30 lbs in a year and have kept it off ever since. If I’m feeling lazy or in danger of falling back into old habits, she still inspires me to keep going. No matter what.

Wannabe Writer’s Notes:
– Yes, two posts about Lightning in a row happened. This is LightningEllen’s Release at so no apologies here.
– Dragon Age related ramblings will resume in the future, probably. I’ve also been nominated for tons of Blogger Awards (thank you everyone!). I might work on a few of those soon-ish.
– OR I’ll continue to ignore my blog and just keep playing Dragon Age Inquisition. Life’s short so do what you feel like, as they say πŸ˜€

  1. Yeah, everyone I know (seemingly) is all: “I HAVE to go to the gym to workout, why would you never not do that?!?!?!”. I can’t think of anything that would make me feel more awkward. Plus, like Β£75 a month, and you have to travel there, and then back… or you could have your contraption at home, get off the thing, and you’re at home! Hurray!

Oh, and I’d pick Kazooie for my training coach. If she’s not available, then Toad.

  2. Can’t blame you for preferring to workout at home. Crowded gyms are way overrated. I definitely prefer working out at home, too. πŸ™‚ Congrats on achieving and maintaining your healthier lifestyle. That’s awesome! πŸ˜€

  3. With Lightning as your trainer you would certainly see some shocking results at how fast you’d get your 6 pack! She definitely doesn’t seem like the kind of person who would take it easy on anyone she’s training. I’d probably like someone fairly relaxed like Goku to be my trainer but I get the feeling it probably wouldn’t be a very productive time if I ended up eating super large meals with him -__-
