Wednesday’s Weekly Wrap-Up (2017-01-25)

I now return to my regularly scheduled progress reports. When I think about it, my blog has been nothing but progress updates lately, with zero results. Oh well. When playing video games all the fun is in making the progress anyway. I do miss that sweet sense of virtual achievement that comes from beating a game though.

Backlog Battle Progress

Sealed Cave is done! During my time in this Underworld cave place, I got tons of XP/Gil from the fake door monsters who have an attack that can one shot party members. I just made Rosa cast Reflect on the unfortunate person the Trap Door was targeting, then giggled in amusement when it killed itself. After conquering the frantic boss fight at the end, I could do nothing but facepalm at what happened. I also made my way back up to the Overworld and scored the powerful Odin summon from a side quest.

My party’s stats: Cecil Lv 42, Rydia Lv 40, Rosa Lv 41, Edge Lv 38. I think I’m going to the moon soon. That sounds fun!

Did not play. To be fair, my last update was just 4 days ago, and I have one of those job things to attend during the week.

I’ll see you again on the weekend, Synth buddy.

Did not play. Time passed too quickly this week.

The hunt for Prismatic Cores continues, later!

Games Shamefully Purchased:

Still nil!

Random Weekly Ramblings

  • Can you believe the first month of 2017 is almost over already? I demand to know who played the Song of Double Time! Reverse it now or else I’ll come break your Ocarina, Goron Drum Set, Dead Fish Guitar, and/or Deku Pipes.

I’d like to at least put a dent in my backlog before I meet with my ultimate terrible fate.
  • The Yarn Poochy Amiibo is coming out soon! Words cannot describe how cute this is or how badly I need this on my shelf of shame.
It’s been over 5 weeks since I got a new Amiibo. I can’t take it anymore!! I miss that rush man.

Feel free to share your glorious conquests in that comment area thingy below. I could honestly use more inspiration…

  1. 2017 is passing so fast! Parts of it are going better than 2016 so far at least! As long as we don’t Song of Time back to that year (except for the good parts). I want that Poochie amiibo so badly. It’s so cute, ahhhh! I love the woolly amiibo. We need more of those!

  2. I can’t believe the first month of 2017 is almost gone! I’d be tempted to set Father Time or Chronos or whomever is responsible on fire but I’m just too damn busy!

You’re spot on about the sweet rush of finishing a game, even if you haven’t 100% “completed” it. I had a friend convince me to start playing Until Dawn (hence my review) and once I started I HAD to power through it and see how it turned out. And wouldn’t you know it, but despite all my efforts to the contrary, EVERY ONE of those stupid bastards survived! I mean, the trophy was nice, but I swear – I’m TRYING to feed them to beasties and they JUST WOULDN’T DIE!

Ahem – anyway, with that back on the shelf, I can continue sporadically playing through a bunch of RPGs at the same time. And I can’t claim your impressive streak of not adding to your backlog – but I can tempt you 😈 You see – I just picked up a combo on Steam of Cthulhu Saves the World and Breath of Death VII: The Beginning for a grand total of…95 cents. Yup. Two hilarious, old school RPGs for less than a buck. You know you want them. Give in…let the backlog FLOW through you mwahahaha!

Glad you’re enjoying FFIV – one of my sentimental favorites of all time!

    1. I hope you find the time to torch them! This year needs to slow down. I’m still working on gathering enough courage to try Until Dawn.

Well played Evil Wizard! You’ve corrupted me, and I couldn’t pass up a deal like that. The bundle was $1.05 Canadian but still so worth it. Now I just need to find the time to play them, haha.

      1. Of COURSE I corrupted you – I’m Evil. I keep telling people, but nobody listens…

Yeah, I’ll be more than glad to have things slow down a bit. I’m still working out the kinks in a spell that will immolate a universal constant, but rest assured, if it can possibly be *FWOOSHED in any conceivable reality, I will find the way to *FWOOSH it.

      1. Haha, it’s okay! There’s still plenty of year left! Do you participate in Four in February at all? If you’re not familiar with it, it’s a gaming event every February that focuses on the backlog. You pick four games you think you can finish before the month is up, make a blog post before or on Feb 1st with your list, and track your progress. It’s fun! Though.. last year I didn’t finish any of my 4 picks and only finished 1 game the entire month. Oops?

  3. I hated those doors! They always managed to kill at least one person before I could do the reflect trick, sometimes Rosa, the very person who could cast reflect. They do give out good experience though, so it was always a good idea to fight them. I know exactly what happens after the Sealed Cave. So headdesk worthy, and sweet Cecil, sweet loyal Cecil. Going to the moon will be very…enlightening 😀 *runs away*

Those job things are annoying, and we’ve both even discussed that we like ours. Still annoying though. Cuts into game time (and sleep time grrr).

I’m okay with reversing time if we go back far enough and just keep repeating the same three days over and over again until we can stop the moon from falling. I approve of this then.

    1. That final boss fight there was quite a rush! It kept inching closer and I kept mashing attack command options, haha. I played it a bit more! I know who Fusoya is now but I’m still on the moon trying to get the Bahamut summon. Oh side quests…

Sleep and gaming time are equally important to me too. So annoying…

I also wish there was a Zelda song to stop the grim events of 2016 from happening… 🙂

      1. The Demon Door is super creepy. I think there’s a similar boss fight in FFVII, but it’s been so long since I’ve played that I forget details that aren’t directly related to you know who.

That Bahamut summon is tough I’ll warn you. You have to fight three Behemoths in kind of random places and then Bahamut does this countdown before he unleashes Flare (or Mega Flare I think). If you don’t reflect it, it’ll more than likely kill your entire party!

Omg. Every day it gets worse.

        1. I honestly can’t remember much from FFVII anymore. I just remember feeling proud when I finally beat Sephiroth at the end of the game! I feel really guilty about that now though. 🙂

Oh that cave sounds like it’ll be a blast.. I’m glad Fusoya and Rosa both know Reflect.

          1. Don’t feel guilty! I’ve actually never finished the game myself though I’ve seen the ending loads of times and read more articles about it than I can count. I remember the important plot stuff and details about that, but some of the finer game mechanics and unimportant boss fights aren’t quite to the fore front.

That’s better than me! I think I had to use a Star Curtain or something like that.

  4. You’re skipping out of video games to go to work?! For shame! You know, there are games out there in which you can get a job. So you can have a job while playing video games! Doing two things at once! Multitasking!
