Oh chaotic life, please just let me play video games, read blogs, and write in peace. I’m really not asking for much here. Uh, yeah… Anyway, it appears that Wednesday happened a few days ago, but I still want to ramble on the internet about things so here’s my overdue weekly progress report that nobody asked for!
Backlog Battle Progress
I’ve conquered an area called the Feymarch to get two awesome summons for Rydia, Asura and Leviathan. The first boss hit like a truck and it was able to heal itself. Thankfully, Rosa knew Reflect! After casting that on the boss, it kept healing my party members instead of itself. I was very amused whenever that happened.
My party’s stats: Cecil Lv 37, Rydia Lv 36, Kain Lv 39, Rosa Lv 37, Edge Lv 32. Now I’m heading to the next story area, the Sealed Cave. I’ll keep pondering why I have this obsessive desire to do side quests in games.
I had a huge Fallout binge last weekend. Nothing cheers me up more than wandering around in a depressing post-apocalyptic world! I knocked out several side quests that had me doing everything from helping a cowardly radio DJ man-up to slaying a terrifying beast lurking inside the Museum of Witchcraft. I also resumed the main story line at long last. I was pleased that the first thing my character did was recount her story so far to a caring detective. I had pretty much forgotten everything so that really jogged my memory. After my loyal dog led me to a familiar coldblooded mercenary’s hideout, my character embarked on a rather traumatic memory journey that showed me more about my son’s fate, and revealed scary details about the Institute organization that’s terrorizing the Commonwealth. The Brotherhood of Steel also made a grand entrance so it seems I’ll be working with them again in the near future.

Dangerous Minds (Bronze) – Complete “Dangerous Minds”
My character is at level 30, and if I don’t get too distracted by several side quests I picked up, I’m heading off to the Glowing Sea with my new Synth buddy. I will be searching for a rogue agent who’s hiding out in this heavily irradiated area. Finally, I have an excuse to dust off my Power Armor!
I didn’t try any dungeons but I had fun wandering around the wastes of Far Eden. Considering I have two lengthy RPGs on the go, it was relaxing to just mindlessly shoot some angry robots in a desert setting. I found a few sparkling Prismatic Cores and ended up on the doorstep of a new optional dungeon: Proving Grounds.
Nothing leveled up except Seth, who is now in the level 20 club. I’ll be trying Proving Ground next.
Games Shamefully Purchased:
Zero! However, my willpower collapsed and I preordered a Nintendo Switch and the Master Edition of LoZ Breath of the Wild after the big event last week. I was on the fence about getting one (backlog reasons), but the hype train ran me over so I want one, now!! Luckily, I was able to use my work break to stand in line at a nearby game store. I’m glad everyone in line got the Switch, but predictably silly Nintendo decided to do a limited run on the Zelda CE. The store I was at only had 4 for preorder and I was second in line.
Random Weekly Ramblings
- The far better bloggers out there have summed up last week’s big Switch event much better than I ever could. I’m just going to spew my two cents, just because:
Good – I’m so HYPED for Zelda BoTW, that new Mario game looks amazing, and this Amiibo addict is pleased to learn of two new Zelda ones. *starts twitching*
Bad – I’m concerned about the battery life, the accessories are stupidly overpriced, seems to continue the trend of laughable third party support/ lack of good online system, and not a peep about Metroid. Poor Samus…
- I’m the proud 2nd place finisher of The Shameful Narcissist’s Final Fantasy Tarot Card project. I even got a beautiful digital ribbon to show off:
“It’s only looking back, by comparison with what comes after, that you really understand that’s what happiness felt like.” – Kellogg, Fallout 4
